The first open water dive of the following Specialty programs can be credited toward the Advanced Adventurer program: • Boat Diving • Deep Diving • Dry Suit Diving • Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN) • Navigation • Night and Limited Visibility • Perfect Buoyancy • Photo and Video • Scooter/DPV Diving • Search & Recovery • Waves, Tides, and Currents • Wreck Diving

Marine Ecology

SSI Ecological Specialty programs provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to identify various species of marine organisms and explain their role in marine ecosystems.

Altitude Diving

The SSI Altitude Diving programme provides students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to dive safely at altitudes above 300 metres.

Enriched Air Nitrox

SSI Enriched Air Nitrox programmes provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to dive safely using enriched gas mixtures. Enriched Air Nitrox 40 (ISO 11107)

React Right

The SSI React Right programme provides students with the knowledge and training necessary to act as first responders and to provide First Aid and CPR, administer oxygen and/or use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in a medical emergency. Each part of the React Right programme (First Aid and CPR, oxygen therapy and AED) can be taught individually or in combination with the other three parts.

Perfect Buoyancy

The SSI Perfect Buoyancy programme provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve their diving position, buoyancy control and minimise their breathing gas consumption, in complete safety.

Navigation

In this programme, you will learn methods for navigating underwater with confidence. You will use a compass and natural features to find your way.

Photo & Video

The SSI Photo & Video programme provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to dive safely while using an underwater camera or video camera.

Deep Diving

The SSI Deep Diving Speciality will teach you everything you need to know to dive to depths between 18 and 40 metres, through a combination of theory sessions and open water dives. You will learn how to safely plan and execute your deep diving adventures and how to use computers and gas consumption calculations to get the most out of your deep dives. Upon completion of this course, you will earn your SSI Deep Diving Speciality certification and be able to explore beautiful deep dive sites wherever you choose. This SSI speciality is also a prerequisite for certain advanced courses, making it the logical next step in your diver training.

Diver Stress & Rescue

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue programme provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify stress, prevent accidents and manage common emergency situations faced by recreational divers. React Right is a prerequisite for this course.

Night and Limited Visibility

The SSI Night & Limited Visibility programme provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to dive safely in low-visibility conditions.

Science of Diving

This programme covers in detail the physics and biology that impact diving. It covers decompression rules, underwater nature and diving equipment. This training is a mandatory prerequisite for certain professional and XR courses.

Computer Diving

SSI has designed the Computer Diving programme to familiarise certified divers with the functions and benefits of using a dive computer. By understanding and knowing how to use all the features of a dive computer, you not only increase your safety underwater, but also make it easier to plan and carry out your dives. The SSI Computer Diving programme explores the functions and capabilities of different dive computers and explains how to use them before, during and after the dive. Often, divers purchase a computer and only use it for basic information. Get the most out of your investment by learning how to use your dive computer optimally. Nitrox and deep dive are prerequisites for this course.

Wreck Diving

The SSI Wreck Diving programme provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely dive around wrecks and artificial reefs without penetration.

Advanced Wreck Diving

The SSI Advanced Wreck Diving programme provides divers with the training necessary to plan and conduct limited penetration, no-decompression dives in daylight, to a maximum depth of 30 metres or a linear distance of 40 metres, while using equipment and procedures specific to diving in confined environments, with a buddy who has at least an equivalent certification.

Dry Suit Diving

The SSI Dry Suit Diving programme provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to dive safely and comfortably with a dry suit
